ULYSSIS organiseert op
6 maart een cursus
web development in Java met servlets en JSP's. De cursus toont hoe je met opensource software zoals Java, Eclipse en Tomcat websites kan ontwikkelen.
De cursus is gericht op beginners, alleen wat basis java kennis is noodzakkelijk. Een beetje HTML kan ook van pas komen. Later volgt er misschien een vervolg cursus. Er zijn 20 plaatsen waarvoor twee lesgevers uit de industrie van Ithomi aanwezig zijn zodat iedereen genoeg vragen kan stellen.
De cursus is gratis voor alle KULeuven studenten en gaat door op 6 maart 2008 van 19.00 tot 22.00 op campus Arenberg in 200A 00.140. Inschrijven is noodzakkelijk op ulyssis at ulyssis.org.
Cursus inhoud
Introduction
Servlets and more specifically JSP (Java Server Pages) have been the core technologies for developing the front-end of Java based enterprise web-applications. Although a lot of frameworks have emerged since its inception to leverage the use of these technologies, a thorough understanding is still key to correctly develop web front-ends.
Description
This seminar will give an introduction to servlets and JSP’s. We will explain and demonstrate the different steps that are needed to make a simple web application in Java. First we will develop the application using the traditional servlet technology. Then we will separate the presentation from the business logic by using JSP’s.
Objectives
After attending this seminar, students will be able to:
- develop a simple web application using servlets.
- use JSP’s to separate the presentation layer from business layer.
- recognize the differences between servlets and JSP.

Everyone interested in having an introduction to web development with Java: developers, architects, project managers, recruiters.
